Dr. Jahangir Md. Sarwar, MBBS, FCPS (Surgery) is a specialist General Laparoscopic and Laser surgeon. He also has vast experience in Urological and Colorectal surgery (especially Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization [THD]  surgery for Piles).

Education

Dr. Jahangir Md. Sarwar graduated from Mymensingh Medical College, under Dhaka University, Bangladesh in the year 1992. He has completed his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2003 from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Training: He received his surgical training in the Dept. of Surgery, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), Mymensingh; Dept. of Cardio-vascular  Surgery, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Dhaka; Dept. of Urology, BIRDEM, Dhaka. Besides, he worked with renowned Urologist Prof. ASM Golam Kibria for more than 4 years in Samorita Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also worked as working and research associate with Dr. Mohammed Yakub Ali and trained himself in the Institute of Laser Surgery and Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh on various LASER SURGICAL procedures namely Laser Prostatectomy, PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression) for Cervical, Lumbar and Thoracic disc Prolapse, Laser Osteo-perforation for avascular necrosis of femoral head, Laser Vaginoplasty and others. Besides, he participated in various training program and workshops, scientific seminars, symposiums in home and abroad.

Work Experience

 After completion of his Fellowship in Surgery Dr. Jahangir Md. Sarwar started his surgical carrier as Registrar, Dept. of Neurosurgery, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH); and then he worked as Resident Surgeon (General) in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. There after he was promoted as Junior Consultant (Surgery) and then Senior Consultant (Surgery) and worked at different district hospitals and also in various private clinics and hospitals. So far he has successfully performed more than 10,000 operations which included General, Laparoscopic, Urological (both Open and Endo-urological) and Colorectal surgical procedures.

Together with his friend Dr. Mohammed Yakub Ali, Dr. Sarwar has pioneered various laser surgical and other MIS (Minimally Invasive Surgery) procedures in Bangladesh namely 

• Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression (PLDD) for Prolapsed intervertebral disc, 
  
• Core decompression by laser osteo-perforation for Avascular necrosis of femoral head,
  
• Laser ablation of Prostate for Benign Enlargement of Prostate (BEP),
  
• Laser Vaginoplasty
  
• Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD) for Piles
